This impressive cabinet-sized specimen is a showstopper from the renowned Taouz Mine in Errachidia Province, Draa Tafilalt, Morocco. Measuring 12.2 cm x 7.5 cm x 7.2 cm, this large botryoidal hematite features an incredible, mirror-like luster with natural high polish and a sculptural surface resembling alien armor or organic plating. The deep metallic black glows with subtle undertones of crimson along its contact edge, hinting at the iron-rich environment from which it grew. The backside reveals its striking internal architecture—splintered, radial growths and hematitic banding—testament to the intense geological forces that formed it.
Botryoidal hematite from Taouz is cherished for its dramatic texture and high aesthetic, and large, well-preserved examples like this are few and far between. A true collector’s piece.
