This striking 10.2 cm x 7 cm x 1 cm specimen from the renowned Milpillas Mine in Sonora, Mexico is a richly textured pseudomorph plate, where sharp, blocky azurite crystals have been completely replaced by velvety green malachite, preserving their original form in exceptional detail.
Scattered across the surface are delicate, transparent gem barite “windowpane” crystals, perfectly perched among the malachite structures like crystalline frost over rich green moss. Their glassy clarity and orthorhombic geometry create a stunning visual contrast that adds depth and elegance to the piece.
This is a standout example of secondary mineral transformation, combining the sculptural presence of pseudomorph malachite with the optical brilliance of gem barite. A refined and highly displayable specimen from one of Mexico’s most iconic copper-rich deposits.
